Since 2008, National Taiwan University of College of Management and University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) has become partner schools. Since then, UTD’s Accounting Cohort Program join NTU double degree program, which is a pretty popular degree among NTU students.

Today, we were grateful to have Prof. Suresh Radhakrishnan and Prof. Steve Solcher with us at NTU to hold the info session. UTD is one of an important sister school of NTU. To do our honor, the Chairman of college of management Prof. Shuen-Zen Liu, Prof. Pei-Cheng Liao and the Global MBA office together welcome our guests.

UT Dallas is one of the leading business schools in the United States. This year, 2018, UTD ranked 7th of the 2013~2017 annual research contribution among the top business school. Our guest, Prof. Suresh Radhakrishnan is the Constantine Konstans Distinguished Professor of Accounting and Corporate Governance at the University of Texas at Dallas, Jindal School of Management. Prior to join UTD, he was a faculty at New York University. Our second guest was Prof. Steve Solcher, which was the main speaker to hold the info session today. He is teaching “Fundamentals of Taxation” at UTD and he is part of  the Institute of Internal Auditors and American Accounting Association.

The purpose of having this info session was to introduce the new UTD program, “Double Degree”.  The “Accounting Cohort Program” now adds an optional second degree, “M.S Business Analytics (STEM courses)”.  The students accomplish these two degrees will acquire 2 diploma: “M.S in Accounting” and “M.S Business Analytics”.

During question and answering session, one the issues that students most concerned was having opportunity to work in the United States after graduation. The good news was that UTD will provide students under UTD double degrees to have 3-year-working permits, which stub stably increase the chance of students to receive good offers and have longer contracts.

The most impressive thing I heard during the session was when Prof. Solcher introduced the CPA Exam, he pointed out specifically about a NTU former student Liang-Han (Hank) Wuu, who received Elijah Watt Sells Award in 2015 from American Institutes of CPAs (AICPA) . This award is only given to CPA candidates who have obtained a cumulative average score above 95.50 across all four sections of the CPA Exam, passed all four sections of the exam on their first attempt and completed testing in 2015. And then, Prof. Radhakrishnan said, “I believe every students in here have chances to receive this award because NTU students are hardworking!”

As a NTU student, I am proud to hear that a former NTU student is achieving his dream and successful on the global stage. I would like to thank UTD professors who came to NTU and shared their school cultures, information and resources to NTU students.  I believed this info session has answers numbers of students’ questions and help the student plan our future plans. Again, thank you all who came to the info session. We had a fulfilling time today.
