Dual Program
Singapore Management University in Master of Science in Accounting Program

To gain admittance to Sigapore Management University in Master of Science in Accounting Program, these NTU student applicants must:

a.  Be registered in the SMU Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting program at the time of his/her application under this agreement. Students in the Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting program must have successfully completed all the course and credit hour requirements for the NTU bachelor's degree prior to their start at University of SMU Master of Science in Accounting Program. 

b.   Successfully complete a SMU MS in Accounting program admissions application and provide all requested admissions related documentation including but not limited to transcripts, test scores and other documentation deemed necessary by the SMU MS in Accounting program; 

c.  Meet all of the admissions requirements and standards of SMU MS in Accounting program. This will include but not be limited to successfully completing and achieving acceptable scores on all parts of the TOEFL and GMAT tests as well as maintaining an acceptable NTU accounting and overall GPA. Minimally acceptable scores include a total of 100 on the internet based TOFEL, a minimum GMAT score of 650 and a minimum overall and major GPA of 3.5. 

 

Bachelor's Degree Program Between Department of Accountancy at City University of Hong Kong(City U) and Department of Accountancy at National Taiwan University(NTU)

a.  City University of Hong Kong was founded in 1984, (hereafter called CityU) and it is the first time that NTU and CityU initiate a (1+2+1) joint Bachelor's Degree Program in Accounting among 4 campuses, which are in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau and China.

The participating students in this Program will first study in their home institution for 1 year, and then transfer to the host institution for 2 years. To round up the Program, they have to go back to their home institution for the last year study. By completion of the process mentioned above, the participating students are able to obtain a joint bachelor's degree from both institutions.

b.   The participating students have to take the required courses and credits in order to receive the joint bachelor's degree. Those who are not able to complete the requirements set by the Program will be viewed as exchange students.  

c.  Students participating in the Program shall enroll at the home university and pay full fees required by the home university. The shall be exmpt from paying tuition, application and academic fees to the host university. However the participating students shall provide for their own food, accommodation, travel, books, transportation, passports, visas, insurance fees, and personal expenses. 

d.  Each institution may accept up to 10 undergraduate students for each academic year. Department of Accounting in NTU will select students based on their grades of university admission exam, their academic performance in the first semester, and their English proficiency. Detail requirements shall consult the coordinator of the department. 

 

University of Pittsburgh in Master of Science in Accounting Program

To gain admittance to University of Pittsburgh in Master of Science in Accounting Program, these NTU student applicants must:

a.  Be registered in the NTU Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting program at the time of his/her application under this agreement. Students in the Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting program must have successfully completed all the course and credit hour requirements for the NTU bachelor’s degree prior to their start at University of Pittsburgh Master of Science in Accounting Program.

b.   Successfully complete a PITT MS in Accounting program admissions application and provide all requested admissions related documentation including but not limited to transcripts, test scores and other documentation deemed necessary by the PITT MS in Accounting program; 

c.  Meet all of the admissions requirements and standards of PITT MS in Accounting program. This willinclude but not be limited to successfully completing and achieving acceptable scores on all parts of the TOEFL and GMAT tests as well as maintaining an acceptable NTU accounting and overall GPA. Nominated candidates must have evidence of a minimum TOEFL score as required by the University of Pittsburgh Policy No. 09-02-01. For the PITT MS in Accounting program, current acceptable scores include a total of 95 on the internet based TOEFL, a minimum GMAT score of 650 and a minimum overall and major GPA of 3.5;

d.  The NTU candidates must successfully complete the entire course of study of the Master of Science in Accounting Program at University of Pittsburgh. At the end of that course of study, successfully graduated NTU students will receive a Master of Science in Accounting from University of Pittsburgh.

e.  University of Pittsburgh in Master of Science in Accounting Program and NTU Department of Accounting mutually agree to work together to provide the necessary information to ensure that NTU student applicants to the PITT MS in Accounting program have taken the necessary pre-requisite courses.

f.  NTU students are responsible for finding their own housing.  NTU Students will be individually responsible for their tuition, fees, health insurance, personal expenses and any other costs that may arise.  These expenses include, but are not limited to: the student’s living expenses during school (room and board), the student’s living expenses during extended academic recess (i.e. holidays, winter and spring break periods, etc.), living expenses for spouse and dependents, passport expenses, excess baggage shipment and storage, repatriation, international and domestic travel, and such personal expenses as telephone charges, books, etc.

g.  Only minor illnesses of the exchange student may be treated at the host institution’s health center.  Hospital and other medical expenses are the sole responsibility of each student.  Each student must purchase health, accident, emergency medical evacuation and repatriation of remains insurance for himself/herself and his/her spouse and dependents at least comparable to that endorsed and made available by the host institution to cover medical contingencies while in the host country, and provide proof of health insurance coverage to the host institution prior to the visit.

Michigan State University in Master of Science in Accounting Program

To gain admittance to Michigan State University in Master of Science in Accounting Program, these NTU student applicants must:

 a.   Be registered in the NTU Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting program at the time of his/her application under this agreement. Students in the Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting program must have successfully completed all the course and credit hour requirements for the NTU bachelor’s degree prior to their start at Michigan State University at Master of Science in Accounting Program.

b.  Successfully complete a MSU MS in Accounting program admissions application and provide all requested admissions related documentation including but not limited to transcripts, test scores and other documentation deemed necessary by the MSU MS in Accounting program;

c.   Meet all of the admissions requirements and standards of MSU MS in Accounting program. Thiswill include but not be limited to successfully completing and achieving acceptable scores on all parts of the TOEFL and GMAT tests as well as maintaining an acceptable NTU accounting and overall GPA. Minimally acceptable scores include a total of 100 on the internet based TOEFL, a minimum GMAT score of 550 and a minimum overall and major GPA of 3.7

Academic Load During Their First Semester at ILLINOIS.
Credits Transfer

1. ILLINOIS will accept up to four (4) NTU courses for maximum of three (3) units of graduate credits at ILLINOIS (twelve (12) NTU credit hours), for their graduate students entering the ILLINOIS MSA program. Only graduate level courses with a grade of B or better will be accepted for transfer.
2. Credit that has already been used to meet the requirements of a completed degree program at NTU can not be transferred. If the student has completed a degree program at NTU and is currently registered in the NTU program and taking additional course work at NTU, the student may petition for transfer of credit for work completed after the degree was granted by NTU.

Credits and Course Requirements
 
1. The student is aware that the MSA program at ILLINOIS requires eight (8) units of graduate credit (32 credit hours), with a minimum of four graduate units in accounting. Two (2) of the eight (8) units must be outside of accounting and five (5) of the eight (8) units must be at the 400 level. The NTU student will be at ILLINOIS during the Fall semester, ( roughly from September to mid- December), and Spring semester, (mid-January to early May), registering for at least five (5) units (20 credit hours) depending upon the number of NTU credit hours accepted by ILLINOIS.
2. The Department of Accountancy at ILLINOIS has established with the Graduate College of ILLINOIS that the list of courses listed below contributes to satisfying the 400 level requirements. The number in the brackets represents credit hours.

CPA Examination


Those participants who are interested in the CPA examination of the United States may take the CPA review course offered at ILLINOIS every Spring semester, at no extra charge. In order to participate in the CPA examination of the United States, NTU participants must apply to the Illinois State Board of Accountancy and pay all necessary fees.

Graduation Requirements


After successfully completing the two-semester program at ILLINOIS, the NTU participants will receive a Masters of Science in Accounting (MSA) degree from ILLINOIS, at the end of the Spring semester (usually mid-May).

Finance and Service


All NTU participants of this program must register and pay tuition and other required fees at NTU and at ILLINOIS. ILLINOIS will provide the necessary documents for obtaining a visa. The NTU participants will be responsible for the following at ILLINOIS:

1.Room and board expenses;
2.Transportation to and from ILLINOIS
3.Textbooks, clothing, and personal expenses
4.Student for Equal Access to Learning Fund (SEAL), Student Organization Resource Fund (SORF), and Krannert Fee (all the above items are refundable); Transportation Fee and General Fee; Health Insurance/Health Service Fee, ( all the above items are non- refundable)
5. All other debts incurred during the course of the year.
