演講摘要:
This study, drawing on institutional theory and insights from international political literature, examines the influences of supranational institutions (Bilateral Investment Treaties and Preferential Trade Agreements) on the location choices of multinational corporations (MNCs). The study also explores which host country and home country are more responsive to the influences of supranational institutions and which type of MNCs is more likely to be influenced by supranational institutions when determining the location choices of foreign affiliates. Using a sample of 13,126 foreign market entries made by 1,137 MNCs, we find that supranational institutions have positive influences on the location choices; and such influences vary across host and home countries and among MNCs. |
