Deng Chuan-Hsin: NTU Distinguished Alumni of 2022 (Class of 2010, EMBA NTU-Fudan Program)
Mr. Deng has long been devoted to education and social welfare. This year, he was named Distinguished Alumni by his alma mater, National Taiwan University, marking a milestone in his life. In addition to thanking his alma mater for fostering him, he would like to dedicate this honor to his parents to commemorate their hard work in raising him. He would also like to dedicate this honor to all the people who have helped him. He will never forget their support. In 2015, in the name of his late parents, he established the Sustainable Memorial Fellowships and Scholarships in Memory of Mr. Deng Li-Deng and Mrs. Deng Liu Chih-Mei for the College of Medicine, College of Management, College of Liberal Arts, and College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of his alma mater, National Taiwan University. In 2016, to support the retention of outstanding young scholars in NTU's College of Management, Mr. Deng invited alumni to donate funds to establish the NTU EMBA Alumni Elite Scholars Lecture Sustainability Fund in the College of Management. It is hoped that these lectures will highlight Taiwan's strengths in sinology globally and enable culture to be passed on from generation to generation. Harvard University's President Lawrence Bacow encouraged the class of 2022 to: "save a seat for others, to make room for others, to ensure that the opportunities afforded by your education do not enrich your life alone!" Mr. Deng's parents taught him from a young age to be humble and helpful to others. Therefore, he has been devoted to promote social welfare in Taiwan in the hopes that each little drop of help will one day become a river. To date, more than 800 students from disadvantaged families have received assistance through the sustainable fellowships and scholarships. Mr. Deng said that at the moment a student says, "I want to help others in the future", he will know that the bond of goodwill had been successfully forged. He hopes that his small acts of kindness will inspire many more in the future.
