Hung-Chang Lin received his PhD in Strategic Management from Michigan State University. His research focuses on strategic communication and textual analysis. Before pursuing his doctoral studies, he earned a BA in Political Science from National Taiwan University and a Master of Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University. His research draws on organizational theory and psychology to examine the role of language and emotion in markets and, more broadly, to advance theory on the microfoundations of strategy. Leveraging natural language processing (NLP), he systematically analyzes top executives’ rhetoric and emotional expressions to investigate how investors interpret and evaluate the strategic signals conveyed through such communication.
