Congratulations to Professor James J. Jiang, who will serve as the senior editor of the SCI/SSCI International Journal JAIS from 2015 to 2018! JAIS is the flagship journal of the Association of Information and Systems, and it’s also praised as one of the leading international journals in the field of Information Management.

Professor Jiang served as the emeritus chair professor in many domestic and international renowned institutions before returning to teach at NTU in 2013. His main research areas are IS Service Quality Management as well as IS Project, Program, and Portfolio Management. Professor Jiang has had various research experience, enabling him to develop new ideas and gain an international perspective from foreign scholars while teaching abroad. Then, he converted the knowledge into his own insights in order to carry out his research while continually challenging different opinions. Professor Jiang had served as the senior editor of MIS Quarterly (the most prestigious journal in the field of Information Management) from 2012 to 2015. However, his essays have also been rejected by other top international academic journals. Nevertheless, Professor Jiang still retains his ambitions and continues to make efforts towards his goals.

Through his many years of experience auditing world-class international journals, Professor Jiang realizes that the issues of management research in Taiwan are often acclaimed by foreign outstanding journals. However, many Taiwanese scholars have been frustrated when they tried to submit articles to foreign top journals as a result of cultural and environmental factors. Therefore, Professor Jiang hopes to share his experience with other Taiwanese scholars to assist them and inspire more brilliant ideas.

Professor Jiang indicates that submitting articles to international journals requires perseverance and passion for research to support this aspiration. Consequently, he would teach his MBA students to be patient. He would also suggest his students to do their research step by step and continually confirm the content in their essay. After all, they may have the opportunities to cause a great sensation in the world-class international journals.

Professor Jiang believes that people will be highly passionate in their research when they are “doing what they want to do.” Therefore, he encourages all scholars to focus their efforts for both research and teaching on fields that interests them to deliver more joyful results.
