From November 11 to 12, 2024, MBA students from Seoul National University (SNU) participated in a two-day short-term visit to National Taiwan University (NTU) to gain deeper insights into Taiwanese culture and industrial innovation. The program combined academic lectures, company visits, and cultural experiences, broadening students' international perspectives while strengthening friendly exchanges and economic cooperation between Taiwan and South Korea.

November 11: Business Courses and Smart Technology Exploration
 

On the first day, Professor Bryan Jean, Associate Dean of International Affairs at College of Management, NTU, delivered an international business lecture. Leveraging his expertise, Professor Jean shared Taiwan’s achievements in digital globalization and platform strategies by comparing Korean and Taiwanese cultural influences on business models, such as the market differences between LINE and Kakao. He also introduced practical Taiwanese applications like the travel app FunNow and the local student community platform Dcard, helping students quickly adapt to the local environment.



In the afternoon, the group visited Advantech, a global leader specializing in IoT, Industry 4.0, and embedded systems. The Advantech campus, equipped with cafes, libraries, and gyms, fosters a comfortable and innovative work environment. During the visit, students learned about Advantech’s technological innovations in smart industries and its collaboration with Samsung, gaining insights into the global competitiveness and strength of Taiwan’s technology sector.

 
 
 

November 12: Strategic Management and Health Innovation Experiences
 

On the morning of the second day, students joined a strategic management course taught by Professor Jung Yun Han. Using case studies and interactive teaching methods, Professor Han delved into competitive strategies for global enterprises in multicultural contexts. She encouraged students to critically analyze the key success factors of different business models. The engaging discussions created a lively atmosphere, deepening the academic exchange.
 

 

In the afternoon, the group visited MacroHi, a Taiwanese brand specializing in organic haircare products. Students toured its stylish office environment, experienced scalp testing, and tried the company’s products, gaining a deeper understanding of how MacroHi leverages natural ingredients and innovative technology to build brand value. MacroHi also showcased its commitment to environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility, demonstrating how businesses can achieve positive societal impact alongside profitability.


 

Farewell Dinner: Friendship and Future Prospects


The program concluded with a lively farewell dinner where students and faculty gathered to enjoy a variety of Taiwanese cuisines in a warm and joyful atmosphere. During the dinner, Professor Jean awarded completion certificates to the students, expressing gratitude for their participation. The dinner not only marked the end of the program but also symbolized the beginning of new friendships and future collaborations.
A New Opportunity for Enhanced Collaboration

This short-term program vividly showcased Taiwan’s cultural charm and industrial strengths, deepening SNU students' understanding of Taiwanese society, culture, and economy. Taiwan and South Korea share close ties, with immense potential for cultural exchange and economic cooperation. The continuation of such activities will further solidify the friendship and collaboration between the two countries, offering students on both sides valuable opportunities for academic and professional growth.
