Strengthening Global Ties: NTU-CoM Hosts NYU Stern for 'Doing Business in Asia (Taiwan)' Program Exploring Taiwan's Business Landscape Through Industry Engagement
Throughout the program, students explored four key industry sectors in Taiwan:
*Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG): A visit to Nike’s flagship store and OEM manufacturer, Feng Tay, provided exclusive insights into the global supply chain and product innovation in the footwear industry. *Semiconductors: Students engaged with leading firms such as TSMC and ASML Taiwan, delving into Taiwan’s crucial role in the global semiconductor market. *AI Applications and Advanced Manufacturing: Visits to EVA Air and Advantech highlighted the integration of artificial intelligence and smart manufacturing in Taiwan’s industrial ecosystem. *Culture and Innovation: A visit to the Taiwan Traditional Theatre Center and GuoGuang Opera Company offered a unique perspective on how Taiwan’s cultural industries blend tradition with modern business models.
The combination of academic sessions, led by esteemed NTU-CoM faculty, and company visits provided participants with a well-rounded perspective on Taiwan’s business landscape. According to the post-program survey, students highly valued the quality of instruction, the breadth of company visits, and the unparalleled access to industry leaders. Many noted that the program’s structure—balancing lectures with direct industry engagement—offered a distinctive learning experience not easily replicable elsewhere.
One student remarked, “The company visits were incredible, and we would have never been able to gain that insight without this program.” Others highlighted the impact of meeting with top executives and experts, while cultural experiences such as the GuoGuang Opera left a lasting impression.
The success of this program underscores the strength of the partnership between NTU-CoM and NYU Stern, reflecting a shared commitment to global business education. NTU-CoM looks forward to furthering this collaboration, enhancing opportunities for students and fostering deeper academic and industry connections between Taiwan and the world.
