Time to see if a month's training pays off; time to baptize the players' tactics and maneuver in real deal. Under the command of Mr. Gu Ji-Xiong, the former national team coach, and Chen Ri-Xing (Class 2002), the former No. 1 point guard of the national team, the NTU EMBA Basketball Team met first the Chi Nan University and then the Chung Hsing University in a friendly match on Aug. 1 at the stadium of the National Taiwan Sport University.

Leading the offense were the 5-Tigers: Chen Ri-Xing, Zhuang Hong-Wei (Class 2011), Mei Jia-Hao (Class 2012), Zhang Hong-Ren (Class 2009), and Jan Ben-Li (Class 2015). Their blitz tactic gained the upper hand right from the beginning, but Chi Nan had a 190 cm high tower center to give our boys a hard time. Basketball is all about maneuver; both teams replaced their starters. We then had Captain Yu Ren-Xian (Class 2007), and Zheng Zhao-Shen (Class 2011), followed by Wu Qi-Nan (Class 2006), Yang Yi-Zhi (Class 2005), Liu Jia-Wei (Class 2011), Guo Guo-Wei (Class 2011), Gao Zhi-Hong (Class 2008), Gao Zhi-Qian (Class 2012), Yang Dai-Hua (Class 2014), Hu Xian-Ping (Class 2001), and Shen Hong-Yuan (Class 2015). Thanks to Coach Gu's agile strategies, our players were able to maximize their potential equally good as the 5-Tiger starters in tactical formation and on each one's position. Soon our team dominated the game and scored our first win of the expedition by 63 to 26.

But there was no time for rest. The second battle with Chung Hsing began right away. Our stamina was running low, and the number of missed shot was mounting; we were stuck in a stalemate. At the end of the first half were we only a handful points ahead. Luckily, as the second half began our team used its maneuver advantage and each player did their jobs assigned by the Coach, our defense tactics successfully drained out Chung Hsing's strength and caused them fouls after fouls. During the entire second half Chung Hsing could score only a few points. In the end, NTU registered its second win in a roll of its expedition by 38 to 18.

What really mattered about the expedition is more than the two consecutive wins; each team member of the NTU Basketball Team realized that their training was on the right track and they each was able to bring out their potentials to the fullest because they understood the tactics and practiced accordingly and repeatedly. Only when each one contributed to the team, the team could function to the maximum and achieve its ultimate might.
