Apr. 12, despite the gloomy rain, a group of people gathered on the NTU field. No shiny shoes, no thick suits; they were where for actions on mud.

It was the 4th President Cup Marathon of NTU EMBA with 51 teams, a record high. In addition to students, alumni members also answered the call and join the event that carried the heritage of unity across classes and years. EMBA President Cup Marathon was not just an annual sport event; it was all about carrying forward traditions. The Lion’s Head led by Dean Guo Ruei-xiang finished the 4th place as expected; the faculty can not just teach, they are really a force to be reckoned with when it comes to sports.

Of Mud and Rain, Lion’s Head Roared

In addition to the race for adults, the organizer of the 2015 NTU EMBA 4th President Cup Campus Marathon Relay also had plans for the kids. In the playground area slide and balls were prepared and the kids were having a good time. Official staff was keeping eyes on the kids when the parents were committed to the marathon. These thoughtful arrangements made this Marathon a family. “We are having this event for the families to tag along; EMBA study would be too daunting a task without support from family members”, said Huang Jian-Wen, President of the EMBA Students Association.

Huang Jian-Wen, President of the EMBA Students Association cheered for the contesting teams.

The drizzling rain compounded the difficulty of Marathon, but the contestants remained in high morale; their battle cries sounded every now and then, it seemed no one wants to go home without the grand trophy. Creativity was also seen with the names of the teams, like Class 2013B’s B1 Food Court Team and B2 Parking Lot Team. These serious business managers had their humor side disclosed on this day.

The contestants dashed toward the finish line

First runners on starting line began to race forward as the start signal sounded, and the 4th Marathon Relay officially began. The college games might have their youthful energy demonstrated, but there we had something more: persistence and endurance. Thanks to the contestants’ weather-defying spirit and teamwork, the 4th EMBA President Cup Marathon Relay concluded flawlessly.
