[Reversing the spiraling-down kids toward a new direction of excellence!]

Many children in both urban or countryside are physical/mental victims of underachievement in schools, single-families, poverty, grandparenting, new migrants, aboriginal tribe citizens, reconstituted families, loss of support, domestic violence, and alcohol abuse. They are too weak to change their environment and thus choose to become run-aways or drop-outs; never imagined to have dreams, spiraling down seems to be their only way.

This summer vacation, the Reverse Union, consisting of 4 youth care organizations: The Home of Dream from northern Taiwan, Lin Yeh-Shen Foundation from central Taiwan, Fei Yang Association form southern Taiwan, and Book House for Kids from Taitung, has rallied 60 children from underprivileged families to take on the challenge of cycling around Taiwan. They pray with sincerity to pull these children out from predicaments, give them warmth, encourage them to pursue dreams, and exhort them to repent and reverse toward success and eventually toward excellence.

NTU EMBA Bicycle Club and the Reverse Union collaborate to give cares to the children of underprivileged families. During the first day’s 97-km leg, which started from Bali and ended at Miaoli, those little kids were riding against strong seashore winds, sizzling sunshine in Taoyuan, and rain in Hsinchu, and they kept going. Some were injured, some experienced heat exhaustion, still they cheered for themselves. During our companionship with them, we gained bountiful harvest and sentiments!

Wish these kids to complete the journey safely!
