EMBA Office welcomed new students of Class 2016 on Jan. 17 in a solemn reception, where representatives from the faculty of the College of Management, NTU EMBA Alumni Foundation, and Student Association were present to greet the new students. Mr. Zhuang Rong-Hui, Dean of Academic Affairs, offered in-person his encouragement and congratulation for the new students. Dean Guo Ruei-Xiang, Dean of College of Management, the figurehead revered by all, wished all new students may learn to deal with all aspects in life with the spirit of innovation. Xie Ming-Hui, CEO, NTU EMBA, wished them to adapt NTU EMBA’s learning spirit: one focus, two-way development, three in a team, and four-direction harmony. Befriend with agreeable partners to be influential and rise high with generous tolerance for diversities.

The focal point of the reception was the banner hand-over. Department directors handed the banner within which carries the spirit of NTU EMBA over to the student representative. The banner hand-over not only symbolized the legacy of knowledge, but also our fine heritage. In the reception the EMBA Office had especially invited the volunteers of NTU Visitor Center to give a campus tour and introduce a series of famous scenic spots on campus for the new students to appreciate the beauty of NTU, like the Fu Bell, the Library, and the Royal Palm Boulevard.

In the end was individual class time. In addition to orientation on class and teaching affairs, self-introduction among the class teacher, class advisor, senior fellow students, and the new students were arranged. Ice-breaking activities purposefully designed soon cast away shyness and the ambience turned exuberant.

The result of student recruitment this year also demonstrated the spirits traditionally held dear by NTU EMBA: diversity and harmony. The new students of Class 2016 come from different industries and professions. In addition to the top three, hi-tech manufacture, biomedical tech, and hi-tech service, the new student profile has added with media/culture innovation and culture/education circles. In their schooling years to come, more brand new inspirations shall emerge.
