EMBA, National Taiwan University (NTU) held a grand and warm inauguration ceremony for graduates 2017 on Jan. 22^nd, joyfully welcomed the freshman of National Taiwan University with blessings. Leaders and managers working in various fields gathered together, reflecting the core of NTU EMBA, “The Convergence of Diversity and Winning Through Innovation”. EMBA CEO of College of Management, NTU, Dr. Hsieh, Ming-Huei raised a question on the ceremony, “How long has it been since you were a freshman last time? There were ten, twenty and thirty years for these classmates, whose pioneering spirit and ambition in learning touches our teachers deeply.   

On behalf of NTU, President for Academic Affairs, Kuo, Hung-Chi hosted the ceremony for graduates 2017. He pointed that it’s a lifelong learning and highly expected these freshmen of becoming elites and pride of the country, making great contributions to the society. Meanwhile, Dean, College of Management, Guo, Ruey-Shan encouraged the students to create “The Second Curve” of life and business during the EMBA Master programs to make a climax again.

Dean, Guo shared strategy achieved by the three criteria:

1. A touching learning career, valuing the balance among your body, mind and soul.
2. Integral thinking with cross-industry alliances and putting the knowledge into practice.
3. Building up a social network for a joint effort on a startup.

On the other hand, Dr. Hsieh, Ming-Huei emphasized the learning spirit of NTU EMBA:

Concentration, Sharing,

Collaboration and Convergence. The four spiritual indicators serve as a guide for EMBA academic career from which four crucial issues are derived what Dr. Hsieh urged the students to ponder over:   

1. What will be achieved for the best in the future three years?
2. Learning is a process of co-creating; equipped with social network, proficiency and economic capital, what could you share others with? How to inspire creativity and energy?
3. After the energy has been aroused, what kind of change can be made?
4. It’s relatively easy to gather people sharing common tastes but how could we tolerate different voices and thinking? 

Dr. Hsieh promoted that the students should aspire to fulfill social innovation and make a contribution to the society.

Many leaders of NTU Student Association participated in this ceremony as well to celebrate the join of their school brothers and sisters. The objective of NTU Student Association is to play the role of platform integrator and to establish a valuable culture, worth passing down. Apart from introducing a variety of activities held by the student association, President of NTU Student Association, Huang, Ya-Xing suggested that NTU EMBA embraces four “together”: study together, share together, add value together and graduate together. President of NTU Alumni Association, Wu, De-Feng, representing 3, 000 alumni, welcomed the freshmen and expressed that once admitted by NTU EMBA, you’ll be part of NTU for a lifetime. Here, people’s wisdom is put together, incorporated with innovation, to

take more social responsibilities by joining hands.

In this inauguration ceremony, student representatives from the five departments of College of Management received a banner from teachers, which symbolized not only the beginning of academic career but the inheritance of the University’s motto, “Integrity, Diligence, Fidelity, and Compassion”.

ECO, NTU EMBA, Dr. Hsieh, Ming-Huei conducted a survey in the inauguration ceremony on “How many people are there with over ten, twenty and thirty years since you were a freshman the last time?” The freshmen 2017 carried the enthusiasm for learning, joining the big family of EMBA.


The music starting to play, this is the very first time for the freshmen 2017 to sing NTU school song and the music led people to enter the palace of academia.
