The EMBA programs of National Taiwan University (NTU) always take the lead in social welfare engagement. Through a variety of social groups, the EMBA alumni have been doing feedback for the socially disadvantaged. June 19, the Catholic Good Shepherd Social Welfare Foundation, an institution built on women and children issues and inspired by family services with an aim at helping the disadvantaged, received a vehicle donated by Xu Jia-Li, an alumnus of the 1997 EMBA class, for the help of transporting remote school children in afterschool activities.

In the ceremony, Ms. Hsieh Ming-Huei, CEO of NTU EMBA, witnessed the donation, joined by the EMBA alumni including You Shu-Fen of the 1998 class, You Hao-Yi of the 2001 class, Wu Shao-Qing and Tan Han-Ru of the 2006 class, Huang Jun-Zhen of the 2002 class, as well as Madam Chen Hai-Rong, a nun and chairperson of the Foundation’s DeLian Home and Ms. Lin Pei-Xuan of the Foundation’s propaganda affairs.

Ms. Hsieh Ming-Huei addressed in the ceremony, saying, “The integrated cross-fields platform allows more EMBA students and alumni to congregate resources put into social welfare helping more people in need. This event will be a starting point, a great time to give a boost to social welfare activities.” In response to the kindness, Madam Chen Hai-Rong said that this donated vehicle would help the remote school children get home safe, and he would like to thank on behalf of the benefited children. Together, people in the ceremony witnessed the moment of warm atmosphere.

Though the NTU EMBA alumni are actively engaged in charity activities, they need a platform for in-depth integration. In view of this, a few alumni were determined to do something about it, and then the online charity platform was born. With the platform established, it took only two weeks from initiation to fulfillment of finding a suitable vehicle for donation to the Good Shepherd Foundation, through the aggregate efforts of vehicle search by You Hao-Yi, funding initiation by Xu Jia-Li, and vehicle verification by Huang Jun-Zhen, all of them were the EMBA alumni mentioned above. Different from the traditional donation, this new model of collective efforts can be more efficient and profound in contribution to the society. It is a charity pattern worth promotion. These enthusiastic, passionate and loving EMBA alumni brought about a vehicle that turned on the learning for the benefited children. A bit of love makes tremendous hope. This little sapling will grow stronger into a big tree, abundant with fruits.
