NTU Tea Party – It’s about appreciation and sharing

Let us bring the beauty of Tea Art into campus as to remind our busy all the times alumni members with refreshing aroma of tea and experience once again the simplest form of wonderful appreciation of life, mind, and soul.

Since history, tea appreciation has been a fashion among the sophisticate literates; every detail at the seat for tea appreciation is in the realm of art.

Mastering tea is nothing less than devotion, and tea appreciation is an elegant entertainment. Tea art purifies one’s mind and awakens our capacity to sense the beauty of matters and beings.

A tea party is a banquet in floating form. The simple joy and rare purification come to mind and soul, and new meanings of life are discovered.

Since when our busy itinerary has purified our senses that we no longer stop to appreciate a simple scenery. Go to a tea party in the campus; perhaps it is a once in a lifetime chance to return to school and gather together to enjoy some tea, and rediscover the true self with a cup of warm tea juice.

“Heritage and innovation, humanity and art, nurturing the capacity of mind, and living an unrestrained life” are the operational ideas of the current NTU EMBA Alumni Club/Alumni Foundation. Through carrying forward and exploring culture, trying innovative elements, presenting the values of humanity and culture, shaping the quality of arts, nurturing the growth of mind and soul to make life even more wonderful and life more self-contained.

NTU Tea Party” wishes all participants to rediscover the touching beauty of simplicity in daily life through experiencing and practicing the spirit of tea art. Through the performance and exhibition of humanity, culture, and art, the inner mind and soul are nurtured.

Our tea party includes two sessions, each of which has 24 tea booths hosted by 24 invited tea masters who are to entertain 120 tea guests.  Tea guests are the subjects of the tea masters’ hospitality for tea tasting and tea trial. The tea masters are to tutor the way to appreciate the aroma and taste of tea. Senior tea guests can even tell the vintage hidden in the tea. Tea masters are the most important people of the entire tea booth; they are responsible for the design of the tea booth, brewing of tea, and tea service. From the arrangement of tea accessories, formal procedure of tea etiquette, tea pot readying, tea leafs measurement, brewing, to tasting, each step can be complicate, but the context hidden within is the bonding between the tea masters and the tea guests; this is the state pursued in tea art as “Ichigo Ichie”, a Japanese term for once in a lifetime chance, meaning giving nothing but the best. The tea party wishes to bring the tea guests to experience the spiritual world of tea art through tea masters’ rigid and proficient tea service skills.

This is a rare opportunity with very limited vacancy. Some of the vacancy will be reserved for the faculty, reservation will be made in the order or time. The Alumni Foundation will confirm each reservation, followed by sending the official tea party invitations to the participants.
