Dear fellow NTU EMBA partners,

 

The premier of “Tug-of-war” directed by Yang Li-Chou will be held at the Alumni Club’s Alumni Theater, 11/27 (Thu.) 6:30 – 9:30 pm. Director Yang will be there to share his stories of the filming of this movie. All alumni members are welcome to meet and talk to the director in person.

Director Yang Li-Chou is a documentary film worker in Taiwan. He has been the director-general of the Documentary Film Development Association and the standing director of Taipei City Documentary Film Practitioners’ Union.

 

Documentary film is one of its own kind film; directors devoting themselves to this type of film have more or less expectation about the society and wish to deliver the values in which they believe through their works. However, for Director Yang, making documentary film also satisfies another aspiration in his mind. “If I make 30 documentary films in my lifetime, it will be like 30 different walks of life; that is the reason I particularly like about documentary film.” Said Director Yang. Documentary film allows him the chance to experience different ways of life and do more things.

 

List of Director Yang’s works:

“Conquering the North Pole”: He carried more than 40-kilo of equipment and spent 21 days with Marathon athlete Lin Yi-jie throughout the entire conquest.

“Forgotten Times”: He had filmed at elderly’s home about aging people suffering Alzheimer's disease trying hard to remember their lost memories.

“Miracle in a Summer”: At Mei-lung Junior High School in Hualien, he witnessed the entire process that a team of soccer kids braving their way into the national final game.

“Tug-of-war”: He had filmed the way that a small town in Jiasian recovers from disaster. He had also learned from the children of a tug-of-war team about the values of persistence and perseverance. These stories and experiences have enriched Yang’s life and touched countless audience.
