The “Cross-Strait Health Industry Exchange Forum”, organized by NTU EMBA Office as a partial effort of its Mainland Alumni Members’ Reunion held second time in Shanghai, focused on the hottest topic of “health in China”. Colossal business opportunities in Cross-Strait health consumption are still left unexploited, and approaching to these businesses must begin with a comprehensive view on the entire business environment that involves health care, medicine, bio-tech, and finance sectors. It will be a prominent market in the future.

As the number of Cross-Strait migrant workers increases significantly, an interpersonal network consists of NTU EMBA alumni members in Mainland China has taken shape already. For Alumni members that are new migrants and earlier migrants already settled-down alike, the Office would like to enhance the bonding among them as a big family for life, career, and study through fulfilling the idea of life-time learning, and this event is exactly a corresponding effort for this aim.

NTU EMBA had invited three keynote speakers for the “Cross-Strait Health Industry Exchange Forum” this year to share their decades of experiences in medical practices and Cross-Strait management and talk about the status quo and management experience of Cross-Strait health industry. Lin Jian-Huang, vice president of Taipei Medical University, talked on his experiences of hospital management on both sides of the Strait and shared the patterns for future cooperation and examples of benchmarks for Cross-Strait cooperation. In the end, Professor Xie Ming-Hui summarized the topics of the day and concluded that a comprehensive health ecology system is one concept: to have sufficient resource and system to lay down the rules and take the initiative. This platform will be established based on a commercial ecology system. With the resources consolidated from the EMBA students across the Strait, a common goal may be formed for further development.

The sincere and brilliant speeches from the 3 keynote speakers at the Forum had inspired deeper reflections among the audience. In addition to their keen questions, the participants also thanked the Office for organizing seminars on a regular basis and bringing them opportunities to acquire knowledge and expand personal connections over the Internet. The half-day event ended after fervent discussions, while business opportunities were exchanged and connections established among the participants. The lunch afterward at the Shangri-La Hotel dragged on and the participants were reluctant to let it end. It was a starting point for Cross-Strait EMBA exchange; let us unite the power of our Alumni members from across the Strait, consolidate more resources from Mainland China, and jointly create the glory of NTU EMBA.

We look forward to the next reunion where more resources will be united for our alumni members, and jointly learn and create the peak of operation.
