Announcement for 2014 Election of the 11th President of the Students Association, NTU EMBA

The election of the 11th President of the Students Association, NTU EMBA will begin from August 25 (Mon.) through August 31 (Sun.) via online voting; joint nomination and registration begins on August 4 (Mon.) and ends 12pm, August 14 (Thu.). All students wish to run for the campaign should meet the deadline and comply with the rules provided in below. 

I. Definitions: 

1. Candidates: all students with active standing with the NTU EMBA program and attending the second year of master program (Class 102) may be candidates.

2. Constituency: All students with active standing with the NTU EMBA program and attending the first and the second year of master program (Class 102 and Class 103) shall have the right to vote (including students with suspended status without losing the student identity).

3. Candidates’ registration period: From August 4 (Mon.), 2014 through 12pm, August 14 (Thu.) (Refer to the attached election rules for joint nomination and registration).

4. Campaign period: From 8am, August 16 (Sat.) through 6pm, August 23 (Sat.).

5. Voting date and time: Online voting begins on August 25 (Mon.), 2014 and ends 12pm, August 31 (Sun.)

II. Campaign restrictions:

1. Candidates may not engage in campaign activities during times other than the designated campaign period.

2. Candidates may promote their respective politics via posters, banners, emails, flyers, and visits to classes during campaign period provided the activities hereto comply with the restrictions on campaign materials stipulated by the Office of EMBA.

3. No campaign activity may hinder any class from its normal course.

4. Candidates may not bribe the constituency for the election.

5. Candidates being suspected for violating election rules shall be judged by the election affairs meeting summoned by the election affair director-general. 

III. Voting and ballots counting

1.Due to different class schedules of Classes 102/103 and in consideration for the convenience of the students of classes 102/103, this year the voting will take the form of online voting, of which rules will be announced along with the announcement of running candidates and notice for voters on August 18, 2013.

Election Rules for the election of the 11th President of the NTU EMBA, 2014

1. Subject matter:

To maintain operation of the EMBA Students Association and fulfill the delivery of the Students Association’s services to the EMBA students, the election for the president of the EMBA Students Association is therefore organized.

2. Constituency

All active EMBA students of our school shall have the right to vote, and the president of the Students Association shall be determined by the student body through direct election.

3. Candidate qualification

Any EMBA student attending the second year of master program of our school may qualify as a candidate.

4. Tenure

The tenure for this term of Students Association president shall be one year from October 1, 2014 to September 30, 2015. 

5. Registration and joint nomination

1.Deadline for registration: Candidates intend to run for the presidency shall submit application form before 12pm, August 14 (Thu.), 2014.

2.Application papers: Candidates shall submit the following papers:

        Registration Form for candidate of NTU EMBA Students Association President.

        Joint nomination for NTU EMBA Students Association President(requires more than 20 signatures from the constituency).

3.Method for registration: Candidates shall submit written applications to the director-general or deputy director-general and may do so any time before the deadline, or submit the said papers to the NTU EMBA Service Office at the 2nd floor between 12pm and 2 pm, August 14 (Thu.), 2014. Scanned images of candidates’ registration forms and joint nominations shall be delivered to the Students Association’s Secretariat office via email:  jessica@marbo.com.tw

8. Voting method:

9. Criteria for election winner:

1. In case of two or more candidates, the candidate having the highest votes shall win. In case of only one candidate, such candidate shall have the majority of the votes from the constituency to be considered elected.

2. The election result shall be announced by the election affair’s director-general via email, and a poster stating the result will be put up at the first floor of the School of Management Building.

3. Clarification of valid votes and invalid votes shall follow commonly accepted standards, and doubts, if any, shall be finally determined by the director-general of the election affairs committee.
